Cristina Gomez was born in Ecuador, where she learned to love art. Growing up next to her grandfather, who was a shoe designer and passionate advocate for craftsmanship and arts, she learned at a very young age to draw and sketch beautiful sceneries from her home city Guayaquil. As a child she fell in love with the intricacy and depth of Oswaldo Guayasamin.
As a teenager she moved to New York where she decided to further her art education, learning both, fine arts and graphic arts. She attended New York City College of Technology where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Advertising Design.
Throughout her career, Cristina has developed her own style by taking inspirations from in cubism, expressionism and color design. Her pieces are structured and intricate but at the same time, tendered and deep. Although, her main focus is painting, she developed a great love for photography and video editing while she was in college and has added them to parts of her art collection.
"I want my art to move people, to bring them color and light. As an artist, I believe we have been gifted a great deal of responsibility to present to the world the beauty that exists in everything and with our abilities we can see and create a world full of color and love."
